Term 3 - Week 5 Homework

Term 3 - Week 5 Homework

Kia ora!

For this weeks homework we want you to do some review of the work we did last term.
Last term we made some poems to help us with our timetables and wrote a story “the hole to hell.” We posted these on youblisher.

Do a google search for    youblisher our times tables
Select the link that is titled our times tables - youblisher
Have a read through what we did and remind yourself of how we posted our work on the web site.

Make sure you finish your homework from week 3 as we will be using this for our writing next week. You need to know your Rugby World Cup team and where they are playing their pool games in NZ and what things they could do in those towns or cities to entertain themselves.

Remember to be reading everynight and practice your spelling words.
Practise your NZSL counting 1 - 20 and have a look at the NZSL online dictionary to try and put together some sentences that we are using in the classroom.

Term 3 - Week 4 Homework

Hi All

Homework this week is a 2 part event.

Firstly go to

http://digistore.tki.org.nz/ec/p/home

and click on the student pin, type in NNREAC. Do the Going to school activity.

Open your windowslive account in a new tab. Make a slideshow with 3 slides. A slide for Denmark, one for Western Australia and one for NZ.

On each slide make a list of 5-10 things about life as a student at school in the particular place. Add an image to each slide to help explain your ideas. Think about how you will explain what you have written. We will share the slides at school.

Also remember that you should be reading each night, and learning your spelling words for the test on Friday and remember to practise your NZSL fingerspelling.

Message from Alisha

We have arrived in Malaysia and staying at my family home in Kampong Endah. Its in a Malay village near the sea.
The weather is hot and humid. Its supposed to be cooler because it’s the rainy season.  We are living in my uncles white house. Our room is air conditioned.
On the side of the road there is a stream and when my mum was young there were crocodiles living in the stream and also snakes and wild chickens. There are guard dogs living in our familys property and the dogs keep on barking at me.

This is a monitor lizard, they can grow up to 2m long.

There are also monkeys but not as many as there used to be. The countryside is being developed and more palm oil being planted.
My family grow palm oil, bananas, coconuts and tropical fruits.
Palm oil is used for many things, in margarine, chocolate, cooking oil, food stuffs etc.

We went to Tanjung Sepat about 30 min away from where we live. Its where my Mum grew up and went to School. We visited a market and had breakfast. We later bought Malay pancakes, which have nuts and corn inside, delicious.

Next time I will tell you about our trip to Thailand.

Homework Term 3 Week 2

Homework this week will be split up into two different parts.
Over the weekend you will share you easttle results from Maths and Reading with your parents. When you open up your test report summary click on the student speak option to help you understand the areas that you are good at and the areas you still need to improve in.

The second part to your homework will have to be done during week 3 after you have been given a RWC team to research about.
You will each get a team on Monday and your job is to research where that team is from and about the culture of their country.
Try and find research that will help you answer these questions and write some sentences under each section in either Windows Live or your homework books:
Classification: Where is the country (What continent and a few of the surrounding countries)
Description: Give a brief description of their strip and their logo.
Location: Where are they playing their pool games in New Zealand
Dynamics: What cultural things could they do in this town/city to entertain themselves
Summarising comment: Write a comment about the hopes for the team throughout the RWC.

Remember to use your spelling words for next Friday.

Week 10 Homework

This weeks homework will be a collaberative effort on Windows Live.  You have spent some time researching about natural disasters, volcanoes, earthquakes, storms and droughts.  I would now like you to prepare a presentation with a partner on the disaster you researched.  The presentation can be in Windows Live using the powerpoint package, it can be by a poster if you do not want to use the computer.  The presentation will need to have some diagrams, it will need to explain at least one part of how the disaster occurs and it will need be a collaberative effort.

These will then be shown in class during week 11, starting on Wednesday 13 July.

We will discuss this in class.
