Message from Alisha

We have arrived in Malaysia and staying at my family home in Kampong Endah. Its in a Malay village near the sea.
The weather is hot and humid. Its supposed to be cooler because it’s the rainy season.  We are living in my uncles white house. Our room is air conditioned.
On the side of the road there is a stream and when my mum was young there were crocodiles living in the stream and also snakes and wild chickens. There are guard dogs living in our familys property and the dogs keep on barking at me.

This is a monitor lizard, they can grow up to 2m long.

There are also monkeys but not as many as there used to be. The countryside is being developed and more palm oil being planted.
My family grow palm oil, bananas, coconuts and tropical fruits.
Palm oil is used for many things, in margarine, chocolate, cooking oil, food stuffs etc.

We went to Tanjung Sepat about 30 min away from where we live. Its where my Mum grew up and went to School. We visited a market and had breakfast. We later bought Malay pancakes, which have nuts and corn inside, delicious.

Next time I will tell you about our trip to Thailand.
